A little over a week ago (Sunday, September 25, 2016) saw a very enthusiastic group of Browncoats gather at the Mayfair Theatre on Bank Street for the 9th annual Ottawa Serenity Charity Screening (OSCS) … and I believe a very shiny time was had by everyone in attendance!!!
Though the number to attendees was down a bit from previous years those who bought bickets (whether in attendance or not), donated towards raffle tickets, bid on silent auction items, or gave cash donations helped raise around $2,000.00 for the two charities that the OSCS donate to each year.
Given the GORGEOUS Fall weather we had that day you could not blame some people for choosing to stay out of doors that afternoon … but they did miss a fun afternoon as well as some shiny things to bid on in the silent auction!
The costume contests were modified to include Firefly t-shirts, Jayne Hats, and generally anything geeky. Silent auction area was busy and with so many shiny things to bid on. Throughout the afternoon door prizes were awarded. The trivia contest proved challenging. Auctioning of previous OSCS event posters was added last minute. The raffle ticket drawings were done immediately after Serenity’s screening. Wow, now that was one jam packed afternoon!
Congratulations to everyone involved with organizing and running the 2016 OSCS and thank you for again putting on a fun and entertaining afternoon!
